Proton to come to India

India's Hero group is in the final stages of talks with Malaysian car maker "Proton" to make small cars in India. It is said that officials from Proton, Malaysia have already visited India and the car is being tested in Indian roads. Proton sales has been hit by recent auto market slump in other countries where the car is already being sold.

GM Sells HUMMER To Chinese Auto Maker

General motors has come into an agreement with a small chinese heavy machinery maker to sell the brand Hummer. Last time another Chinese auto major grabbed Rover from UK. China being one of the fastest growing countries has now stepped up to take Hummer.

Hummer seen as one of the gas guzzling SUV's has been hit hard on sales since its high in 2006.

Hero Honda in labour problems

One of India's largest motorcyle and scooter maker HMSI (Honda Motorcycle and Scooter India) has been hit by labour problems which has forced it to stop taking new orders in dealerships. It is said that the plant is running at about 50% lower on irs production line capacity. The company has threatened to move away from India if situations continue.

Ford says that its latest car Ford Figo will be priced competitive and it also focusses on keeping the cost of ownership low. This would enable the company to provide a truly competitive car well positioned to challenge rival car manufacturers.
