Audi has introduced its international bestselling sports car – the R8  V10 to the Indian market. The Internationally acclaimed car comes with a  V10 engine capable of propelling it from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds  flat and to a top speed of 316km/h. Transmission duties will be taken  care of by a 6-speed manual transmission or an Rtronic auto transmission  with paddle shifter behind the steering wheel. Audi has priced the R8  V10 at Rs 1.32 crore ex-showroom, Maharashtra.
The R8 features the fabled Audi Quattro permanent all wheel drive  technology for optimum roadholding performance. The car also has Launch  Control as a standard feature.
The R8 was earlier available with a 4.4-litre V8 engine. The new  5.2-litre powerplant makes the R8 a proper supercar and “would boost the  company’s image” according to the company officials. The car will be  imported in India as a completely built unit (CBU).
The company plans to sell 4,500 units in the year 2010 and inch closer  to the sales of BMW and Mercedes who are doing numbers in the region of  6,000. The company also plans to take the number of its dealerships up  to 20 from the current 14 this year. The company also plans to introduce  the new A8, A7 and A6 before the years ends.
