Mahindra And Mahindra Hikes Prices By 15,000

It has hardly been three months and auto companies are ready with reasons for their second price hike. Numero Uno Maruti Suzuki, Tata Motors, Toyota and now Mahindra and Mahindra have hiked prices of all their car models. The hike varies from Rs. 7,000 to Rs. 15,000 which is 1.5 per cent to 2 per cent depending on the model you choose.

The company officials gave no new reason for the hike apart from the increase in price in the input goods. M&M currently is selling Bolero, Xylo, Scorpio, Logan & Thar and the hike is pressed on all these cars.

Mahindra was also in news for the Ssangyong venture on introducing the Rexton & Korando C which will take the Indian SUV scene to a new level. Mahindra has also taken over Reva the first Indian electric cars who are currently selling the REVAi while the Reva NXG and Reva NXR are in the pipeline for 2012-2013. Mahindra had recently started a new brand position under the name “RISE” which is supposed to help the company to communicate with one brand voice, one face and one core purpose.

Mahindra and Mahindra with Ssangyong will launch two new SUV

We hear an official word from Mr. Pawan Goenka, President, Automotive & Farm Equipment sectors, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd saying that “Our timeline (for the rollout) is about one year from now. We’re currently completing market research on India. We are also designing the assembly line and overall business plan”

M&M along with Ssangyong which is a Korean car manufactuerer is all set to roll two SUV’s which will be the Korando C and Rexton expected by early 2012. M&M is done with all the legalities with Ssangyong required for the acquisition, and seems very positive about the collaboration.

The car will be assembled at the M&M Chakan plant near Pune where a new assembly line will be introduced. Hopefully the cars will be rebadged as sold under new names. M&M has been successful to put a fight to Toyota Innova by its Scorpio and Chevrolet Tavera by Xlyo. With the introduction of two new world class SUV’s M&M will now take the stakes higher and will try to put a good fight for big guns in the SUV segment like the Toyota Fortuner & Chevrolet Captiva.

Engine : 2.7 lit Turbocharged DOHC 5 Cylinder.

Power : 165 PS for 270S and 186 PS for 270 SPR

Torque : 340 Nm for 270S and 402 Nm for 270SPR

Specs for Korando C

Engine : 2.0 lit Turbocharged DOHC

Power : 175 PS

Both the Korando C and Rexton seem good to be champion on paper and on the road.
