Audi has introduced its international bestselling sports car – the R8 V10 to the Indian market. The Internationally acclaimed car comes with a V10 engine capable of propelling it from 0 to 100km/h in 3.9 seconds flat and to a top speed of 316km/h. Transmission duties will be taken care of by a 6-speed manual transmission or an Rtronic auto transmission with paddle shifter behind the steering wheel. Audi has priced the R8 V10 at Rs 1.32 crore ex-showroom, Maharashtra.
The R8 features the fabled Audi Quattro permanent all wheel drive technology for optimum roadholding performance. The car also has Launch Control as a standard feature.
The R8 was earlier available with a 4.4-litre V8 engine. The new 5.2-litre powerplant makes the R8 a proper supercar and “would boost the company’s image” according to the company officials. The car will be imported in India as a completely built unit (CBU).
The company plans to sell 4,500 units in the year 2010 and inch closer to the sales of BMW and Mercedes who are doing numbers in the region of 6,000. The company also plans to take the number of its dealerships up to 20 from the current 14 this year. The company also plans to introduce the new A8, A7 and A6 before the years ends.
